‘Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, Jab Jab and African influence on carnival’ KYC podcast.
Recently I have been listening to podcasts, which I am not typically a fan since I prefer to listen to music minus the talking. Despite my lack of fondness I found interesting ones which focus on Carnival that conduct interviews with movers and shakers of the carnival industry or ones that read text on carnival from colonial times which make comparisons. Today I would share a couple of my favourite podcasts discovers so far and hopefully this list would continue along my Phd journey.
“Know your Caribbean” is a group that I have followed for a while on instagram which has shared a wide variety of information on the richly multicultural layers that is the Caribbean archipelago. I loved this episode of the podcast which showed the point of view the Europeans had of Trinidad Carnival in its infancy.
“In We Blood” is a podcast which I learnt about from friends when I told that about my research interest. So far I think it’s a good introduction for myself to understand some of the issues and innovations which are happening from diasporic carnivals based from Trinidad Carnival, primarily that of Toronto Carnival.
…as you may know, “I’m no expert” but maybe one day soon.
